The Founders Den Begins 1-28-10

Congrats Chelsea Heil!

I’ve been studying fashion for a little over 2 years, and have been devising my plan for success since 5th grade. I’ve always believed I can do anything I put work & perseverance into – and so far, my theory has proved true. Therefore I will never stop working for what I want to achieve. I’ve acquired basic knowledge about marketing at the Art Institute as well as some web design skills. I’ve also worked as a Real Estate Administrative Assistant @ Charlotte Russe Corporate Offices, so I was able to get a feel for how to approach people with business issues/concerns. I am very social and consider myself to be an avid networker. I love meeting new people who can offer me bits of advice, opportunities, or who I can help in some way.

What I want to accomplish through this program is a strong sense of business perspective, the skills to create a successful business, and to meet plenty of other entrepreneurs who share the same level of determination and unconventionality. I know that here I will have a strong team to pass ideas around with and be advised on the proper route to success. I am ready to put in the work it takes to grow into a very powerful, brilliant young professional and entrepreneur. I feel confident that this program is the one that will help lead me to my goal of becoming a successful and innovative businesswoman.

Fund The Youth Program

Oct 01, 2009 – Today, Eric Rice, founder of the “Fund the Youth” program at BFC Ventures, LLC, formally thanked the businesses of Downtown San Diego who will be participating in “teaching the next generation of entrepreneurs”.  “The entrepreneurial incubator is the first of its kind.  Our primary focus is to be the backbone for future business owners.  We want to teach these kids early on in life the ABC’s of running a business and how to take an abstract idea and turn it into a reality,” Rice was quoted.  He went on further to personally thank a few of the companies that endorsed his “Fund the Youth” campaign such as Girlfriend Approved.com, Java Jones, Gourmet India, Brett Mills of Casa Financial Services Inc., A Fond Remembrance, Nextvoice 247 and Unifik Music Co.

Eric Rice created the “Fund the Youth” program in four stages.  In every stage of the apprenticeship, the participants would be educated in business strategies, marketing, online social media, management and funding prospects just to name a few.   Applications are currently being accepted, and scouts will be available on San Diego college campuses to inform interested parties about the company and answer any questions that they may have.

Importance of Social Media

It is important to be aware of as well as be involved with social media in different levels; as users, as consumers, and content generators. Though Social Media we can voice our opinions, share ideas and communicate effectively on a public platform that we can all be part of, we are given the choice to listen or be listened. Social media allows freedom to interact with other users from all over the world, to connect with people with different points of views, or simply share common opinion with a huge audience all over the globe. Its a modern cyber democracy that we can all be part of.

Social Media creates a platform for social interaction and interface between users and content generators. This platform It allows the public with alternative avenues to disperse ideas, information, and media (physical, electronic, or verbal), which is very quick, in some cases, information travels in real time. Social media creates a forum where ideas and knowledge are exchanged, when you present people with knowledge, they become part of a cyber democracy, making that knowledge acquired become power. Power and knowledge can be acquired through social media, amongst other benefits.

Social Media can reach masses in a short time, and in comparison to the conventional Industrial Media, it is relatively inexpensive and easy to travel.

Social Media is viral, meaning that it can spread from user to user, creating a chain reaction that crates a catalyst to diffuse a message to other users within an online community.

The contents of Social Media are not finite: there is not a set number of pages or hours. The audience can participate in social media by adding comments, instant messaging or even editing the stories themselves.

Social Media provides highly accessible avenues to reach a global audience, since the internet connects users in a global scale through the world wide web.
